John
Gale
A professional guide in the Whistler area for the past nine years,
John Gale loves fishing more than anyone we have ever met. John
is the heart and soul of the modern day angler combining all of
the elements in equal portions. A very patient fisherman, skilled
caster and flytier as well as passionate environmentalist, John
is a complete angler. One cannot spend time on the water with him
without coming away from the experience feeling a little more in
touch with Mother Nature. A true lover of all fishes, John is a
big Steelhead fan and logs many days on the Squamish every winter
and spring in search of his favourite fish. When there are no Steelhead
to be caught John usually can be found on the Birkenhead river and
he is rumoured to know it as well as the Bears. John spent much
of his formative fishing years at his family’s camp on the
fabled Babine River in northern British Columbia, one of BC’s
finest Steelhead waters. It must be his Skeena country upbringing
but john is drawn to the north and it’s many Steelhead rivers
each fall. He is also a regular on the Thompson and it is very common
to find him there on his days off in the summer and fall months.
John is the quintessential angler, so much so that he has been cast
in TV commercials where such an image is desired. John has been
a Whistler resident for twenty years and knows the area like very
few others.
